Welcome to a new and challenging school year. We are excited and anxious to get the year started. It is very important that the school and home communicate throughout the year. Here at Norwood Elementary we acknowledge that all students have a unique ability and learn at different rates. We will provide the students with a positive and caring environment that will enhance the students to be creative and to become self-actualizing individuals. We will promote every opportunity to encourage each student to achieve his or her fullest potential and to encourage each student to develop his or her own special talents. One of our major goals is to develop an awareness in each student as to the importance of education in relation to citizenship, home living, vocation, and further training. Education is a joint effort among home, school, and community. Each one has to be dependent upon the other for education to be successful. If at anytime I can be of help to you, please feel free to call upon me. Wayne Patton, Principal

Vision Statement The vision of the faculty and staff of Norwood Elementary School is to provide all students with the tools to become productive, responsible citizens. This can be accomplished through a partnership with the family and community working together to provide the necessary resources and support to produce a positive educational environment essential for learning. It is essential that the students at Norwood Elementary acquire skills in gathering, organizing and analyzing information. They must develop skills in higher order thinking and solving multi-step problems. Students must have access to modern technology and learn how to use these tools in their everyday lives. They must be able to express themselves through written and oral communications as well as the arts. It is important that students be active participants in both mental and physical activities - life and learning are not spectator sports. They must learn to work together with others in a cooperative effort and to appreciate the contributions and worth of other cultures and accept individual differences. They must realize that they are part of society and therefore must work within that society's rules and structures for the good of all.
